Our hearing aid deliveries & returns information

Deliveries in the UK

We offer a free delivery service for all online hearing aid purchases in the UK. Delivery times may vary based on your location, but typically range from 5 to 7 working days.

If this is not possible, we will contact you. Rest assured, all deliveries are fully insured and tracked. The hearing aids you’ve ordered will be delivered to the address you specified during the order placement.

Should your order not arrive securely within a reasonable timeframe after receiving dispatch notification, it’s essential to get in touch with us.

Upon receiving the delivered goods, you are urged to promptly inspect them to ensure they meet your expectations.

In the rare instance of non-delivery due to either The Hearing Shop or our courier’s error, you’ll have the option to choose between a full refund or re-delivery.

Damages during transit

We kindly request that you carefully inspect your hearing aids upon their arrival. If you happen to receive an item that is defective, damaged or if there has been a mistake with your order, we urge you to reach out to us without delay.

This allows us to promptly assess the situation and take the necessary steps to rectify any issues, as we are committed to making things right.

Repairs

Repairs that are covered by the warranty are free. You will need to send the hearing aid to us, which we will then send on to the hearing aid manufacturer for them to repair.

Once we have the repaired hearing aid back from them, we will return it to you. You have two options for postage;

  • Royal Mail Tracked costs £10
  • A courier costs £30

Please indicate your preference to your audiologist, and they will send you a payment link. The same postal charge applies if we are sending you replacement receivers under the warranty.

Large Range of Hearing Aids available for Fast Delivery

International deliveries, import duties and customs fees

We only ship orders to addresses in the UK; the price you see includes the applicable UK VAT. Alternatively, you can arrange collection by a courier of your choice if you would like to have the aids delivered internationally.

Orders outside the UK may be subject to Import Taxes or Customs duties at your country’s applicable rate. It’s important to note that starting from 11 PM on December 31, 2020, shipments from the UK to EU countries will now incur import taxes and customs fees.

The Hearing Shop is not liable to pay these fees from your country. The courier will contact you to arrange payment of taxes due and customs duties.

Our hearing aid refunds are applicable within a 60-day period (we operate a 60-day money-back guarantee) from the date of shipment to your address.

As the customer, you are responsible for the postage cost of returning the hearing aid(s) to us.

To initiate a return for the hearing aids, please follow these steps:

1. Contact us: Send an email request to info@hearingshop.co.uk to obtain detailed return instructions from one of our audiologists and to get your Approved for Return Code (ARC).

When initiating a return, please include the ARC (Authorisation Return Code) in a supplementary letter, providing a concise explanation for the return.

Ideally, attach a copy of the original invoice to facilitate a smooth and efficient processing of the return request. This information ensures clarity and helps us address your return promptly and accurately.

2. Arrange shipping: Reach out to a reputable courier service to arrange the pickup and delivery of the item(s).

Ensure that you adequately insure the items for their purchase value and opt for a tracked postage service. Additionally, please email us the proof of postage provided by the courier or post office when sending back any item.

3. Inspection and refund: Once we receive the returned item(s), we will conduct an inspection. If there are no violations of our Terms of Sale (e.g., physical damage to the hearing aids, cracks, moisture damage, usage outside of recommended conditions), we will promptly process a refund for the total amount paid to The Hearing Shop.

You will receive an email notification when your return has been received and when your refund has been issued.

Please be aware that the time required for your bank to process the refund and for the funds to reflect in your account may range from 9 to 14 days from the date we receive and approve your refund.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re experiencing significant hearing loss in both ears, you will need two hearing aids. Here are the audiological reasons behind our audiologist’s recommendation:

Localisation: Our brains rely on information from both ears to accurately determine the source of sounds. We can precisely locate where a sound is coming from by analysing the small time delays and differences in loudness between sounds reaching each ear. For example, if one ear has better hearing than the other, it becomes challenging to understand the direction of sounds.

Head Shadow Effect: High-frequency sounds, crucial for speech clarity, cannot effectively bend around your head, unlike low-frequency sounds. For example, if someone is speaking on your unaided side, you might hear that they are talking but struggle to understand what they are saying.

Reduced Amplification: A phenomenon called “binaural summation” means that when using two balanced hearing aids, your brain provides a natural boost of around three decibels by combining the signals, which means that the hearing aids can operate at lower, more natural volume settings when compared to a single hearing aid.

Sound Quality: Human hearing is designed for stereo perception. Hearing from only one side sounds less natural to us and can impact our overall auditory experience.

Noise Reduction: Our brains naturally possess a built-in noise reduction mechanism, which works most effectively when it receives sound input from both ears. If only one ear is aided, even with a high-quality hearing aid, it becomes challenging to hear clearly in noisy environments as your brain attempts to process all sounds, including background noise, instead of filtering them out.

For many, the main advantage of using a rechargeable hearing aid is its sheer convenience. We’ve grown accustomed to charging our phones and other devices overnight, and a rechargeable hearing aid aligns with this familiar routine.

This convenience is especially beneficial for those who have limited dexterity or finger-related issues since standard hearing aid batteries can be quite small and challenging to manipulate.

However, one drawback is that there’s no immediate solution if you forget to charge your hearing aid. In most cases, a 30-minute charge provides at least two to three hours of power, but if you tend to regularly forget to charge devices, traditional batteries might be a better fit for you.

In general, the number of channels in a hearing aid is a topic that often comes up, as they play a crucial role in improving your ability to hear and understand speech in various listening environments.  Channels are frequently used by audiologists to simplify the explanation of why one hearing aid might be considered superior to another. However, the concept of channels is more intricate than it may seem.

Hearing aids serve to amplify sounds at various frequencies to different degrees. Since most people experience greater hearing loss in high frequencies compared to low frequencies, more amplification is often required in the higher ranges. These sound frequencies are categorised into separate bands or channels, with hearing aids being adjusted to deliver the precise amplification needed for each frequency level.

Having fewer channels makes this adjustment less precise and means the device is more of a basic hearing aid.  Therefore, the hearing aid would offer limited additional features and is typically suitable for situations like one-on-one conversations in quiet environments.

Most modern hearing aids use channels to provide a more natural and comfortable listening experience. With precise frequency control, hearing aids can maintain the natural balance of sounds, ensuring that environmental sounds, speech and other auditory cues sound lifelike and clear.

Another example of how modern hearing aids optimise channels is automation.  Hearing aids that are able to automatically adapt to various situations.  For example, in a quiet environment, they will focus on speech clarity, whilst in a noisy environment they will switch to emphasising on noise reduction.

The number of channels is just one aspect to consider; the overall technology package and the way the audiologists program the devices are equally important.  Different hearing aid manufacturers take diverse approaches, and the number of channels is not necessarily an indicator of quality, but how they are configurated to improve your hearing and quality of life.

It’s a really simple, hassle-free process that only takes a few steps.  All you have to do is choose your hearing aids from our wide range of options, we sell all of the latest models from the top brands, but with the lowest prices in the UK.

Send us your latest hearing test results and our audiologists will then expertly program your hearing aids based on your level of hearing loss, preferences and specific needs.  We will then post your hearing aids directly to you.

Once you receive your new hearing aids, our audiologists will fine-tune your devices remotely at a time that suits you.  You can then enjoy better hearing on a better budget with a 60-day returns policy – so you can wear your hearing aids with confidence and peace of mind.

At The Hearing Shop, we are dedicated to providing the best customer service and care in the industry.  Unlike some other online hearing aid companies, we have a full-time designating professional audiologist who remotely programs all of our customer’s hearing aids.

With 10 years of remote fitting experience, your hearing aids will be programmed by an audiologist you can trust. Giving you peace of mind and confidence that your hearing aids will be reliable and support you and your hearing.
