Signia Active Mini 1IX earbud hearing aids overview
The Signia Active Mini 1IX hearing aids are the entry point into the Active Mini IX range, bringing the same discreet earbud-style design down to a straightforward, easy-to-use level.
It’s a solid choice if you want simple, reliable everyday hearing support without extra features you’re unlikely to use.
It’s an entry-level technology tier and, like the rest of the range, an ITE (In-the-Ear) earbud-style hearing aid, programmed remotely by one of our qualified UK audiologists based on your hearing test.
Key features at a glance
- Entry-level technology tier: natural sound quality, core amplification, full smart device integration
- ITE (In-the-Ear) earbud-style design, ready to wear straight from the box
- Two microphones per aid for a fuller listening experience
- Core amplification without automatic environment switching
- Up to 21 hours of listening time, with on-the-go charging via the case
- IP68 rated (the industry’s highest standard for resisting water and dust)
- Bluetooth streaming for iPhone and Android, plus hands-free calling on supported devices
- AI-powered app assistant for real-time fine-tuning between your remote programming sessions
- Rechargeable, with a portable charging case included
- Available in black (more colours expected later in the year)
Simple, reliable hearing
The 1 tier focuses on core amplification, without the automatic environment switching found on the higher tiers.
For steady, predictable listening, it’s an uncomplicated option, and your programming audiologist will make sure it’s genuinely the right fit for your hearing loss before recommending it.
Same comfortable, discreet design
Even at this entry tier, you still get the same earbud-style shell, IP68 water and dust resistance, and rechargeable charging case as the rest of the Active Mini IX range.
Built for an active life
Rated IP68, the Active Mini 1IX handles everyday sweat, rain, and dust just as well as the rest of the range.
Staying connected
Bluetooth streaming is included at this tier, letting you take calls and stream audio without extra accessories.
Remote programming and fine-tuning
Your Active Mini 1IX is programmed remotely by one of our qualified UK audiologists, based on your hearing test results, before it’s shipped ready to wear.
Ongoing remote fine-tuning is available whenever you need it.
Which tier is right for me?
All five tiers share the same earbud design, IP68 rating, and rechargeable case; the difference is how much automatic noise processing you get.
If you’re regularly in group conversations, restaurants, or other noisy social settings, the 7IX (Premium) is your best bet.
The 5IX (Advanced) is a strong option if noisy environments come up often but not constantly, while the 3IX (Mid) offers a comfortable in-between when background noise is there, but not overpowering.
If your days tend to follow a fairly predictable rhythm, the 2IX (Standard) gives you dependable, everyday support, and the 1IX (Entry) keeps things refreshingly simple, a straightforward, reliable choice if most of your listening happens in quiet to moderate settings.
Your programming audiologist will confirm which tier genuinely suits your hearing loss and lifestyle from your hearing test results if you’re not sure where to start.
Who might this not suit?
If you spend much time in noisy or changeable environments, the 1 tier’s lack of automatic adjustment is likely to be limiting; a higher tier would serve you better.
Your audiologist can confirm this from your hearing test.
Who should consider the Active Mini 1IX?
A straightforward, no-fuss way into hearing aids, well suited to people whose day-to-day listening is mostly quiet to moderate and who’d rather keep things simple, and a free consultation is the easiest way to find out if it’s right for you.
Other technology levels in this range:
- Signia Active Mini 7IX hearing aids

Signia Active Mini 1IX FAQs
Is the Active Mini 1IX suitable for mild hearing loss?
It can be; your audiologist will confirm suitability based on your hearing test results.
Is it the same size as the rest of the range?
Yes, the earbud-style design is shared across all five tiers.
Why would I choose the 1 tier over the 3?
Mainly cost. If your hearing needs are simple and your listening environments are predictable, the 1 tier avoids paying for automatic adjustment you may not need.
Your audiologist can help you weigh this up.
Can I upgrade later if my hearing needs change?
This is worth raising with your audiologist during a remote consultation, particularly if you’re curious about when it might be time to upgrade your hearing aids.
Does entry-level mean lower quality?
No, it shares the same design, IP68 rating, and Bluetooth connectivity as the rest of the range. The difference is the amount of automatic noise processing, not the build quality.

Our audiologist will request your latest hearing test results so they can analyse your results using specialised software and pre-program your hearing aids based on those results.

The specifics of each product’s warranty duration are outlined on the respective product page. It’s important to note that loss is not covered by a manufacturer’s warranty, and that Puretone hearing aids have a manufacturer’s warranty of 2 years.

Phonak: Receiver wires and rechargeable battery are covered for 2 years.

Please indicate your preference to your audiologist, and they will send you a payment link.

Frequently Asked Questions
If you’re experiencing significant hearing loss in both ears, you will need two hearing aids. Here are the audiological reasons behind our audiologist’s recommendation:
Localisation: Our brains rely on information from both ears to accurately determine the source of sounds. We can precisely locate where a sound is coming from by analysing the small time delays and differences in loudness between sounds reaching each ear. For example, if one ear has better hearing than the other, it becomes challenging to understand the direction of sounds.
Head Shadow Effect: High-frequency sounds, crucial for speech clarity, cannot effectively bend around your head, unlike low-frequency sounds. For example, if someone is speaking on your unaided side, you might hear that they are talking but struggle to understand what they are saying.
Reduced Amplification: A phenomenon called “binaural summation” means that when using two balanced hearing aids, your brain provides a natural boost of around three decibels by combining the signals, which means that the hearing aids can operate at lower, more natural volume settings when compared to a single hearing aid.
Sound Quality: Human hearing is designed for stereo perception. Hearing from only one side sounds less natural to us and can impact our overall auditory experience.
Noise Reduction: Our brains naturally possess a built-in noise reduction mechanism, which works most effectively when it receives sound input from both ears. If only one ear is aided, even with a high-quality hearing aid, it becomes challenging to hear clearly in noisy environments as your brain attempts to process all sounds, including background noise, instead of filtering them out.
For many, the main advantage of using a rechargeable hearing aid is its sheer convenience. We’ve grown accustomed to charging our phones and other devices overnight, and a rechargeable hearing aid aligns with this familiar routine.
This convenience is especially beneficial for those who have limited dexterity or finger-related issues since standard hearing aid batteries can be quite small and challenging to manipulate.
However, one drawback is that there’s no immediate solution if you forget to charge your hearing aid. In most cases, a 30-minute charge provides at least two to three hours of power, but if you tend to regularly forget to charge devices, traditional batteries might be a better fit for you.
In general, the number of channels in a hearing aid is a topic that often comes up, as they play a crucial role in improving your ability to hear and understand speech in various listening environments. Channels are frequently used by audiologists to simplify the explanation of why one hearing aid might be considered superior to another. However, the concept of channels is more intricate than it may seem.
Hearing aids serve to amplify sounds at various frequencies to different degrees. Since most people experience greater hearing loss in high frequencies compared to low frequencies, more amplification is often required in the higher ranges. These sound frequencies are categorised into separate bands or channels, with hearing aids being adjusted to deliver the precise amplification needed for each frequency level.
Having fewer channels makes this adjustment less precise and means the device is more of a basic hearing aid. Therefore, the hearing aid would offer limited additional features and is typically suitable for situations like one-on-one conversations in quiet environments.
Most modern hearing aids use channels to provide a more natural and comfortable listening experience. With precise frequency control, hearing aids can maintain the natural balance of sounds, ensuring that environmental sounds, speech and other auditory cues sound lifelike and clear.
Another example of how modern hearing aids optimise channels is automation. Hearing aids that are able to automatically adapt to various situations. For example, in a quiet environment, they will focus on speech clarity, whilst in a noisy environment they will switch to emphasising on noise reduction.
The number of channels is just one aspect to consider; the overall technology package and the way the audiologists program the devices are equally important. Different hearing aid manufacturers take diverse approaches, and the number of channels is not necessarily an indicator of quality, but how they are configurated to improve your hearing and quality of life.
It’s a really simple, hassle-free process that only takes a few steps. All you have to do is choose your hearing aids from our wide range of options, we sell all of the latest models from the top brands, but with the lowest prices in the UK.
Send us your latest hearing test results and our audiologists will then expertly program your hearing aids based on your level of hearing loss, preferences and specific needs. We will then post your hearing aids directly to you.
Once you receive your new hearing aids, our audiologists will fine-tune your devices remotely at a time that suits you. You can then enjoy better hearing on a better budget with a 60-day returns policy – so you can wear your hearing aids with confidence and peace of mind.
