Description

Unitron Smile Moxi RX 7 hearing aids overview

If you move regularly between quieter settings and moderately busy ones, small group conversations, social outings, background music, and the odd noisy evening, but don’t need every situation handled completely automatically, launching in July 2026, the Unitron Moxi S-RX 7 hearing aids are worth a good look.

Sitting just below the S-RX 9 in the Unitron Smile range, the S-RX 7 shares the same AI processing chip and most of the same capability, with one meaningful difference:

When things get genuinely loud, you decide when to switch on extra help rather than the hearing aids deciding for you.

For many people, that’s a practical trade-off that works very well indeed.

A rechargeable RIC (Receiver-in-Canal) hearing aid, meaning the main unit sits discreetly behind the ear with a thin wire connecting to a small speaker in the ear canal, the S-RX 7 is programmed remotely to your personal hearing test results by one of our qualified UK audiologists, with no clinic visit needed.

What makes the Moxi RX 7 different from the other levels?

All Moxi S-RX hearing aids share the same ERA chip, physical housing, Bluetooth system, charger, and rechargeable RIC design, regardless of technology level.

The difference between tiers is how much the hearing aids handle automatically versus how much you manage yourself.

The S-RX 7 includes SoundSonic360, the same AI speech-in-noise processing chip found in the S-RX 9.

It runs automatically in the background, identifying speech within background noise and keeping it clear in real time.

AutoFocus and Dynamic Noise Reduction also run automatically, adjusting to the environment as you move through your day.

Where the S-RX 7 differs from the 9 comes down to two things.

First, it doesn’t include AutoFocus 360, the all-directions speech tracking that lets the S-RX 9 pick up someone speaking from behind you or across a crowded table from multiple directions simultaneously.

Second, HyperFocus, the feature that narrows all four microphones to a tight beam in front of you in very loud noise, is available on the S-RX 7 but only as a manual programme you switch on yourself.

On the S-RX 9, it engages automatically the moment the hearing aids detect you need it.

Integra OS

The Integra OS in the S-RX 7 recognises and adapts to six distinct listening environments automatically, without any input from you:

  • Conversation in Quiet
  • Conversation in Noise
  • Conversation in a Small Group
  • Music
  • Noise
  • Quiet

It stops short of Conversation in a Crowd and Conversation in Loud Noise, the two environments exclusive to the S-RX 9.

For everyday social situations, work, and moderately busy outings, the six environments the S-RX 7 covers are a wide and practical range.

SoundSonic 360 AI processing

SoundSonic360 is the AI processing system shared between the top two technology levels, the S-RX 9 and the S-RX 7.

Powered by a deep neural network (DNN) chip, it identifies speech within background noise and keeps it clear in real time.

This is meaningful technology, not a marketing label, and the fact that the S-RX 7 includes it alongside the more fully automatic S-RX 9 is what makes it genuinely strong value at this tier.

Hyperfocus when you need it

In very loud noise, the most effective strategy is sometimes to narrow your focus significantly rather than try to hear from all directions at once.

HyperFocus directs all four microphones into a tight beam in front of you, giving you maximum clarity for the person you’re speaking with when the environment is at its most challenging.

On the S-RX 7, you switch this on yourself through the rocker switch on the hearing aid or via the Remote Plus app when you know you’re heading into a particularly loud environment.

If you’re happy to take that step, you get most of the same benefits as the fully automatic version on the S-RX 9.

If you’d rather the hearing aids make that decision for you every time, the S-RX 9 is the more suitable choice.

Universal Bluetooth connectivity and the Remote Plus app

The Moxi S-RX 7 connects via Bluetooth to both iPhone and Android smartphones, as well as tablets and other Bluetooth-enabled devices.

You can pair up to eight devices and have two connected simultaneously.

The ERA chip delivers double the Bluetooth transmission range of previous Unitron models, and hands-free calling works reliably through the hearing aids themselves.

The Remote Plus app gives you additional control when you want it.

Adjust volume and comfort settings, change programmes, activate HyperFocus manually when you need it, and view a summary of your listening environment history and daily wear time.

The Log It All feature records the listening environments you’ve spent time in, giving your audiologist a clearer picture of how your hearing aids are performing in your real life, which is useful for remote fine-tuning appointments.

There are also two optional DNN-powered app programmes, SpeechSonic and NoiseSonic, allowing you to adjust how the hearing aids handle speech and background noise in the moment.

Battery life and charging

A full charge from the included Charger RIC S takes around three hours and delivers up to 24 hours of use.

In everyday use, most wearers comfortably get through a full waking day on a single charge.

The exact figure depends on your degree of hearing loss and how much audio streaming you do.

If you travel frequently or are often away from home, the optional ChargerGo has its own built-in battery and charges your hearing aids on the go without needing a mains socket.

This is not included in the standard price.

EasyGuard domes and easy maintenance

The Moxi S-RX 7 is compatible with EasyGuard domes, which feature a sealed membrane that prevents earwax from reaching the receiver.

This reduces how often cleaning is needed and extends the life of the component, making a practical difference to daily maintenance.

The hearing aids are also IP68 rated, meaning they’re dust-resistant and built to withstand rain, splashes, and perspiration without issue.

Who is the Unitron Moxi S-RX 7 suited to?

The S-RX 7 is worth considering if:

  • You move regularly between quieter and moderately busy environments, including small group conversations, work settings, social outings, and the occasional noisier evening
  • You’re comfortable switching on extra noise-handling yourself when you know a complicated situation is coming, rather than needing the hearing aids to do it automatically
  • You want AI-driven speech clarity (via SoundSonic360) without the full price of the top-tier S-RX 9
  • Previous hearing aids have worked well at home, but felt less reliable in group or social settings
  • You want to upgrade and want a meaningful step up in performance, particularly in more varied listening environments

Who might it not suit?

If you’d rather not manage any settings yourself, even occasionally, and your days regularly involve genuinely demanding, unpredictable noise (crowded restaurants, large gatherings, noisy open-plan offices), the fully automatic S-RX 9 will do more of the heavy lifting without you needing to think about it.

Our audiologists will give you an honest view on which level suits your actual lifestyle, and there’s no pressure either way.

If necessary, we can make remote adjustments there and then to further customise your hearing aids to your personal preferences. This excludes Puretone hearing aids.

Reprogramming

Sometimes further appointments are needed to fine-tune the aids once you are more used to wearing them.

Our hearing aid customer service includes complimentary reprogramming and readjustment of your hearing aids through remote assistance with one of our audiologists at a convenient time for you. This excludes Puretone hearing aids.

All manufacturer warranties are five years.

The specifics of each product’s warranty duration are outlined on the respective product page. It’s important to note that loss is not covered by a manufacturer’s warranty, and that Puretone hearing aids have a manufacturer’s warranty of 2 years.

Once we have the repaired hearing aid back from them, we will return it to you. You have two options for postage;

  • Royal Mail Tracked costs £10
  • A courier costs £30

Please indicate your preference to your audiologist, and they will send you a payment link.

The same postal charge applies if we are sending you replacement receivers under the warranty.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you’re experiencing significant hearing loss in both ears, you will need two hearing aids. Here are the audiological reasons behind our audiologist’s recommendation:

Localisation: Our brains rely on information from both ears to accurately determine the source of sounds. We can precisely locate where a sound is coming from by analysing the small time delays and differences in loudness between sounds reaching each ear. For example, if one ear has better hearing than the other, it becomes challenging to understand the direction of sounds.

Head Shadow Effect: High-frequency sounds, crucial for speech clarity, cannot effectively bend around your head, unlike low-frequency sounds. For example, if someone is speaking on your unaided side, you might hear that they are talking but struggle to understand what they are saying.

Reduced Amplification: A phenomenon called “binaural summation” means that when using two balanced hearing aids, your brain provides a natural boost of around three decibels by combining the signals, which means that the hearing aids can operate at lower, more natural volume settings when compared to a single hearing aid.

Sound Quality: Human hearing is designed for stereo perception. Hearing from only one side sounds less natural to us and can impact our overall auditory experience.

Noise Reduction: Our brains naturally possess a built-in noise reduction mechanism, which works most effectively when it receives sound input from both ears. If only one ear is aided, even with a high-quality hearing aid, it becomes challenging to hear clearly in noisy environments as your brain attempts to process all sounds, including background noise, instead of filtering them out.

For many, the main advantage of using a rechargeable hearing aid is its sheer convenience. We’ve grown accustomed to charging our phones and other devices overnight, and a rechargeable hearing aid aligns with this familiar routine.

This convenience is especially beneficial for those who have limited dexterity or finger-related issues since standard hearing aid batteries can be quite small and challenging to manipulate.

However, one drawback is that there’s no immediate solution if you forget to charge your hearing aid. In most cases, a 30-minute charge provides at least two to three hours of power, but if you tend to regularly forget to charge devices, traditional batteries might be a better fit for you.

In general, the number of channels in a hearing aid is a topic that often comes up, as they play a crucial role in improving your ability to hear and understand speech in various listening environments.  Channels are frequently used by audiologists to simplify the explanation of why one hearing aid might be considered superior to another. However, the concept of channels is more intricate than it may seem.

Hearing aids serve to amplify sounds at various frequencies to different degrees. Since most people experience greater hearing loss in high frequencies compared to low frequencies, more amplification is often required in the higher ranges. These sound frequencies are categorised into separate bands or channels, with hearing aids being adjusted to deliver the precise amplification needed for each frequency level.

Having fewer channels makes this adjustment less precise and means the device is more of a basic hearing aid.  Therefore, the hearing aid would offer limited additional features and is typically suitable for situations like one-on-one conversations in quiet environments.

Most modern hearing aids use channels to provide a more natural and comfortable listening experience. With precise frequency control, hearing aids can maintain the natural balance of sounds, ensuring that environmental sounds, speech and other auditory cues sound lifelike and clear.

Another example of how modern hearing aids optimise channels is automation.  Hearing aids that are able to automatically adapt to various situations.  For example, in a quiet environment, they will focus on speech clarity, whilst in a noisy environment they will switch to emphasising on noise reduction.

The number of channels is just one aspect to consider; the overall technology package and the way the audiologists program the devices are equally important.  Different hearing aid manufacturers take diverse approaches, and the number of channels is not necessarily an indicator of quality, but how they are configurated to improve your hearing and quality of life.

It’s a really simple, hassle-free process that only takes a few steps.  All you have to do is choose your hearing aids from our wide range of options, we sell all of the latest models from the top brands, but with the lowest prices in the UK.

Send us your latest hearing test results and our audiologists will then expertly program your hearing aids based on your level of hearing loss, preferences and specific needs.  We will then post your hearing aids directly to you.

Once you receive your new hearing aids, our audiologists will fine-tune your devices remotely at a time that suits you.  You can then enjoy better hearing on a better budget with a 60-day returns policy – so you can wear your hearing aids with confidence and peace of mind.

At The Hearing Shop, we are dedicated to providing the best customer service and care in the industry.  Unlike some other online hearing aid companies, we have a full-time designating professional audiologist who remotely programs all of our customer’s hearing aids.

With 10 years of remote fitting experience, your hearing aids will be programmed by an audiologist you can trust. Giving you peace of mind and confidence that your hearing aids will be reliable and support you and your hearing.
